Burdekin Bar Review
Review By Ben King
Hugging the edge of Oxford Street and Hyde Park, the famed Burdekin bar is the first venue you see on your way to the clubbing paradise that is Paddington. Whether by design or by pure coincidence, the Burdekin takes on this responsibility whole heartedly, by providing an atmosphere that caters to both pre drinks or an extended drinking and dancing session.
Starting the night there with after works drinks, we headed straight to the cocktail menu (as you tend to do after a week of havoc at work). Needless to say it was well worth the wait, with our table being greeted by an extensive array of cocktails (who's names elude me given I had about 3). Needless to say what I do remember was the fact that the bar tended payed extreme attention to detail with his craft, something you would normally only expect in a dedicated cocktail bar (which Burdekin is not).
It wasn't long till the place filled with an eclectic mix of people winding down after a long week at work and people preparing for a big night on Oxford Street.
One thing that did set this venue apart was the music, so much so that a makeshift dance floor was created as revellers couldn't help themselves but to get up and dance. Coupled with the friendly security staff (that's right, FRIENDLY SECURITY STAFF) and prompt bar service, we all had a good night, with my only criticism being they didn't show the footie.
