Metropolis58 South Terrace, Fremantle WA
Metropolis Fremantle has a certain retro-futuristic charm. While it's divided into four distinct areas (Earth, Air, Water, Fire), they all have a serious sci-fi kink. Metropolis is a genuinely striking venue. Whether your hanging out by the bar (Fire), on the dancefloor (Air), in the lounge with a booth seat (Earth), or checking out the second dancefloor/bar (Water), there's obviously been some thought and money placed into the layout, lighting and decor. The four chambers (and eight bars) are kept busy with a constant supply of local and international DJs playing a crowd friendly mix of house and top 40 dance. While the occasional rock act comes through on a Thursday, Fridays and Saturdays are of the Four to the Floor variety.

Nestled in Fremantle's busy and well visited 'Cafe Strip', 'The Clink' sits in between restaurants quietly minding its own business in the day time and not quite doing that come sundown every Thursday through to Sunday. Any Fremantle local will tell you that it is the place to be if your looking for an off-the-cuff night; with its modest entry fee, student priced drinks, and a chic cocktail bar for those not relying too heavily on the dole. That being said, if you did not get a number, give a number or haven't had all that much of a good time in the wee hours of a weekend in Fremantle and you are still feeling up for it - or even if you ticked all those boxes and wish to test your luck a second time - then put out your wrists and kindly ask the men at the door to take you down to the gallows, because 'The Clink' is most definitely for you.
With 8 bars and a unique elemental theme of fire, eart, air and water, the Metropolis sets the standard in Fremantle nightlife and makes some of the bars and nightclubs on the eastern seaboard look like run-down taverns. If the venue alone isn't enough to make you think your in Ibiza, then the event and DJ lineup will. Easily the best place in Fremantle, so if your in town, pt on your smart casual attire and head to the Metro Concert Club. $10 to get in before 11pm, $15 thereafter.
