As a Gold Coast local I must admit I am much more familiar with the Gold Coast’s clubbing scene than Brisbane’s, but nonetheless I feel as though I can give a decent and unbiased review of which area has the better nightlife. In saying this it all depends on what you’re after, be it convenience, a cheap night out, or musical preferences. There are a few factors that set apart one from the other so here is a pro cons list for you.
So in case you missed it, the current Queensland government has announced plans to introduce legislation making clubs and bars unable to serve alcohol after 2am. I know. Rude. However, safety is paramount and with the level of physical assaults on the rise it is necessary that something be done.
As much as we all like partying and drinking, sometimes there are nights when you just can’t be fucked. Whether it’s because of a big pile of uni assignments or things have been hectic at work, all you want to do is watch Netflix, without the “chill” part. Your friends will plead with you to go out clubbing with them, but how do you get yourself in the mood?
I’ve definitely had my fair share of partying throughout my short-lived life as a bar, beer and general booze enthusiast. Having lived in South West Sydney my whole life, it has come to my attention that local nightspots are becoming increasingly popular and popping up, especially in Campbelltown. Nightclubs are an interesting place of reckless abandon to inhibitions and social norms, where we can all kickback and let our drunken selves party hard. However, for the many peeps out there who work in nightclubs, it can be a draining and crazy job. Adelaide filmmaker Shannon Gunn explored the ups and downs of working in bars and nightclubs with her documentary The Late Shift.
I recently got back from a month long holiday to America, and what a country it is! Had an absolute blast there, I highly recommend it to anyone looking for good nights out. For those who haven’t been to America before, I had you in mind and took many notes so I could tell y’all what it’s really like from a Nightlife Correspondent’s point of view.
Is it really appropriate to chat about work outside of business hours? Is it smart to mix business with pleasure?
Some conversations should be left at home it in the office, because they certainly do not belong at the club.
Okay, so everyone has their own experiences and expectations. Take it from a country person who suddenly gets the idea to take on the big city nightlife; it is a bit of an eye opener. You won’t be seeing familiar faces, and you definitely can’t hustle your way into the club because you know the bouncer, chances of you knowing anyone is slim.
When it comes down to it, females in the 21st century have very high standards when it comes to grooming. It is the most essential part of female hygiene and beauty, ask any female. There is a very small minority in the younger generations who don’t keep up with personal hygiene.
