Originating in the United Kingdom over 2,000 years ago, Halloween has grown into a world-wide phenomenon with recognisable symbolisms of evil and “scary” imagery.
The celebration of this holiday falls on October 31, as the Celtics mark the end of the harvest season and welcome winter, or “the darker half” of the year.
It’s Wednesday. Everyone deserves a hump day treat. You’ve made it half way through the week, so why not let yourself have a little sneak preview of the weekend? And our lovely city agrees, with many bars and nightclubs opening their doors and promising a good time for all. So where should you escape to?
Tucked away in Stanley Street, Darlinghurst, is Sydney’s latest addition to the small bar scene. Boasting a range of unique drinks that tickle all us alcoholics’ (ahem, we mean ‘occasional drinkers’) tastebuds, The Hazy Rose is another one of those venues that has a cozy atmosphere perfect for catching up with friends in the evening after work.
Home Nightclub isn’t situated in Darling Harbour for no reason. One of the key features of the venue is its stunning views, and Dance Club Sydney are making the most of it in one epic, free (yes, you read right - free!) rooftop party on Saturday 28th April. Kicking off from 1pm, the party boasts a line-up of DJs including Moonchild, Franchi Brothers
Asian girls…well, generally, we aren’t an elusive bunch. If you don’t believe me, walk down to Chinatown any day of the week and you will see just how easy it is to find us. However, when it comes to a night out there seems to be a scarcity of Asian girls in most Western bars and nightclubs.
When I’m at a bar or a nightclub and a guy offers to buy me a drink, nine times out of ten he will buy me some sort of shooter: the “Slippery Nipple”, or the “Wet Pussy”…or if I’m really lucky, the “Screaming Orgasm”. Never mind the embarrassment of having to stand next to a sleazy guy (I had my beer goggles on, okay?)
Take three writers, Melbourne’s hottest new venue (if you didn’t know, it’s called The Key Club…but we’re sure you’ve heard of it already), and a night of glitz and booze, and you’ve got yourself a great event. Here’s some feedback on the venue and event from our correspondents.
Every night when I go out clubbing, I hear the same conversations from my friends and strangers ready for a big night. It sounds familiar (probably because you’ve said it yourself on occasion), and goes something like this: “Dude, we totally have to get maggot tonight”, “oh my god, I just really want to meet someone hot”
Before a night out, it’s always great to play a few drinking games to get you in the mood for partying. These games help you learn things about your friends (especially who is a lightweight), they provide a great amount of laughs and, most importantly, they get you drunk. The best drinking games are the ones that make time pass quickly,
We are all familiar with the Bro Code. Barney Stinson even wrote an entire book on the subject, with rules such as 1) Bros before hoes, 3) You must never own a cat, and 19) Never share a bed with a guy, unless there’s no way around it. Guys have rules for when they go out…but what’s the code for girls?
