Often when you go out with a group of buddies, there’s usually one person who won’t be drinking that night, or at least not too much. While it’s of course their choice to drink or not to drink, do they have to act so arrogant about it? Seriously, whenever I’m drinking and someone isn’t drinking, it makes my drinking less fun and makes me look like the bad guy. While they weren’t all against me drinking, one or two of them would obviously rather I didn’t; what a downer.
Whether the sober person is the deso or just doesn’t drink, they’re kind of a buzz kill. They bitch and moan about how bored they are (and whose fault is that?) and how stupid and embarrassing their drunk friends are. Or even if they don’t verbally express it, their face says it all. As I said before, there are times when I’ve felt I was the one in the wrong for wanting to get drunk and enjoy my booze, despite knowing it’ll probably make me sick. It’s like they’re thinking “I’m better than you, and I don’t feel woozy at all” and then laugh evilly.
But you know what I have to say to those people? You’re in a fucking nightclub! What did you expect would happen? That’s why people go to nightclubs for! If you’re going to be a sourpuss, just go home, don’t ruin my night out. You’re just as bad as those people who rant about their problems when others are trying to enjoy themselves. Hell, I bet they probably still drink, even if it is just to drown their sorrows.
When you’re drunk dancing, your sober friend will get annoyed and tell you how embarrassing you are because of your shitty dancing. For one, you couldn’t do much better, and two, everyone else is drunk and they’re not exactly Michael Jackson on the dance floor either. If you feel sick later on in the night, or even if it’s the next day, they will be like “I told you so” and “tsk-tsk-tsk”. Oh yeah, because you’ve never made a mistake before, you’re so perfect. What kind of friend acts all judgmental towards you for drinking anyway?
Yes, drunk people end up making fools of themselves on a night out and regret it the morning after, but isn’t that the point? They had a good time, didn’t they? To paraphrase John Lennon, “Time you enjoy [being wasted] is not wasted”.
