The two cities that once fought for the title of capital city (and both lost miserably to Canberra of all places), are now fighting it out to win what is, to be honest, an even more honourable title; the city with the best nightlife!!! The biggest crown there is!!!
Melbourne and Sydney go head to head in the battle of the century to be crowned with the jewels of intoxication, entertainment and culture. Let’s get a ready to rhumba!
Melbourne
The city that represents itself as everything but Australian, really is something for Australians to be proud of. The multiculturalism, the European feel, and the artistic flair bursting from Melbourne’s very city grid sells this location as the perfect place for drinking. Each and every bar across the scene themes itself whole heartedly, convincing its audience that it’s not just the alcohol making you think you’ve gone from Spain to France in one or two hours. Unafraid to be different, Melbourne’s nightlife is trendy, hip and a teleportal into both another time and place.
Sydney
The bright lights and busy streets of Sydney make patrons feel as though they’re on the road to Hollywood on any given night of the week- with neon signs, expensive drinks and hellish traffic. It’s the similarities in the mood and feel of each nightclub- the loud thumping monotonous music, the plastic fantastic exterior and the larger than life people that make a night on the town in Sydney feel like the city itself is nothing more than a host to one massive party. Determined to add more gloss and shine to their menu- Sydney is the Los Angeles of Australia, a hub for stars and flashing lights. After all, ‘fake’ is a very beautiful thing.
Conclusion
Melbourne and Sydney are two very different cities fighting for one very honourable title. The truth of the matter is, neither can claim the cake. Melbourne is one step ahead in bar culture, while Sydney has its roots well grounded in clubbing.
Which city do you think has better nightlife, Melbourne or Sydney?
