For most girls, the average night out begins with cries of “I’m not ready yet” whilst simultaneously using ambidextrous abilities to complete the perfect look with each prim, pluck and priss. Little did we realise, what we spend hours on end trying to achieve isn’t all that attractive to the opposite sex. Sure, girls will notice your hard earned result and give you a much deserved jealous ridden stare in return, but will the guy you’re gleaming after really appreciate the stench of fake tan?
Here are 4 trends which guys swear they’d rather you go without:
Fake tan
It’s smelly, it’s sticky, and the finished product bares a strong resemblance to a packet of supreme cheese Dorritos. That’s right, we’re talking about bottles upon bottles of fake tan. Not only does your front half and back half look like an advert for the latest release of ‘Ebony and Ivory’, but add a drop or two of rain and it’s an orange water-paint parade. When he kisses you, it smells like soy sauce. That’s right ladies, step away from the shake and bake fake tan.
Ridiculous high heels
Height makes men feel in control, stable and attractive. Give a girl a set of eight-inch heels and he instead feels like a twelve year old boy following around the bust line of his primary school teacher.
By reducing the size of your heel, you become both more approachable, and less like a towering blow up doll. What more could you want in life?
Red lipstick
Ah, red lipstick- a trend which has captured the lips, and hearts of women the world over. While it may make you feel seductive and saucy, the fire-engine colour of your pucker is likely to instead give off a middle-aged feel to the apple of your eye. Guys get enough red lip action from mothers, aunts and grans- stick to the pink and you’ll retain that youthful feel.
Curled hair
It took you months to master the GHD wave, and finally you’ve got the hang of using a straightener to create a curl (guys- don’t even ask). Unfortunately, the bad news is studies have shown men find straight locks more sexy than the curl and wave. Why? Researchers believe it all dates back to Jennifer Aniston’s hair in the era of FRIENDS- since then, it is said, men the world over never once curled back.
