In life, there are many places to meet our soul mates, our night in shining armour, or our dream girl; And modern technology has added a whole other dimension to the game. Gyms, Facebook, the supermarket, BBQ’s, work, online dating sites, and of through friends. However, there is one pick-up location, if you like, that gets a bad rap;

We’re talking nightclub hook-ups. Picking-up, hooking-up, pashing, however you want to label it, when doing it in bars or nightclubs (or anywhere were there is alcohol on tap) is generally seen as a bad idea with regards to forming a long-lasting relationship. However, the nightclub hook-up does has many benefits, and we’re going to list them:

1. You get to see people at their best and worst all in one night - when they fist arrive, they’re gorgeous, well-presented and in a happy-go-lucky mood cause they’re out with their pals. By the end of the night, there makeup/hair/clothes end up worn-off or messed up. Plus if they end up smashed you get to see the drunk/aggressive/sleepy/psycho side to their personality. At least you’ll know what you’re getting!

2. It’s great if you’re just after a fling - a lot of clubbers don’t really expect to meet the person they’re going to marry, while out for a night of hard-core partying so I think it’s safe to say that there are large amount of people who go out, just expecting a casual fling/pash/one-night-stand. This is ideal if you’re after the same thing

3. They’re fun! Are we forgetting how fun hooking-up with a near-complete stranger can be??? The mystery, the anxiousness about what it may turn into, the laughter the next day if they turned out to be a douche or a bunny boiler. There’s a certain excitement that comes with the nightclub hook-up; one that cannot be recreated anywhere else.

4. There’s no awkward first-date moments – you don’t have to feel shy to eat spag bol in front of a guy you fancy and you don’t get that embarrassment of something something stupid in front of that hot chick. It’s a fact of life that when alcohol hits the brain (which takes about 5 minutes!) people loosen up, tend to be happier (we’re talking about 1 0r 2 drinks here people) and are more open to talking to that somebody that maybe they would’ve been to shy to approach. As mentioned, there are no awkward moments: if you wanna kiss someone, you kiss ‘em, if you wanna talk to someone, you go up and start a conversation, if you wanna buy somebody a drink, you buy ‘em a drink, enough said!
