Everyone has listened to an EDM track before, and afterwords stared blankly at the radio in disbelief of what they’ve just heard. So we set out on a quest to find THE STUPIDEST TRACK IN EDM HISTORY and behold we think we’ve found it… and worst of all, I used to listen to him back in 2000. FML!!!
We had a chat in the office and tried to determine the criteria for deciding the winner of this illustrious award, and came up with:
1. Lyrics
2. Video Clip
3. Artist
4. What The Fuck Factor
So armed with this, we hit the internet looking for tracks that met the criteria. Each of us was to select 3, after which we would debate and then cast a vote. So what was the winner you ask…
How Much Is The Fish, By Scooter in 1998.
Lets take you through the analysis.
To start with, the title of the song, which as you can imagine features heavily in the lyrics is a meaningless quip derived from fuck knows where, that means essentially “I Don’t Know.” Combine this with other redundant phrases that seemingly have no correlation with one another and one can only summise “These lyrics were contrived whilst high, but not in a Beetles, clarity through LCD way, more in a coming down at 4am lets write a song and put the cat in the freezer way.”
But lyrics alone doesn’t make for a terrible track. Just ask Bono from U2 with his famous line “Mole, living in hole something something Elevation.” Video clips plays a big part and fucked if I know whats going on in this. He’s dressed like the guy from Tron, there’d a soccer team, dirt bikes, gymnastics and his posse standing there looking like they wish they never agreed to be part of it.
On to Scooter, well the guy looks like the lovechild of Dolph Lundgren and Spongebob Squarepants… So enough said.
And as for WTF factor, that’s determined by the 15 seconds after the video when you just stare at the screen thinking… WTF!!!! Tell us what you think?
