Jam Jar Review
Review By Emilie Guillemain
Jam Jar is one of Brisbane's newest venues, bringing a slice of artistic flair to the city's bar scene. Situated on Boundary Street in West End, this funky little space provides a comfortable outdoor setting where you can park yourselves at either a cosy table or booth.
When walking into Jam Jar you are immediately faced with a friendly and extremely chilled out atmosphere. The space is perfect for all crowds, whether you're looking for a romantic spot for that first date or just after a relaxed space to hang out with some friends. No luck with love or your mates prefer a night in? The bar is perfect for catching up with family too. Playing a diversity of tunes from reggae, hip hop, folk to indie, Jam Jar is the perfect place to kick back and unwind.
The bar offers breakfast, lunch, dinner and dessert, with a mix of unique dishes and flavours any foodie would love to get their hands on. A variety of shared plates are available ranging from 3-15 dollars and mains from $22-29 for dinner. If you've got room for dessert, you can't go past the chocolate and whisky mousse with apple sorbet and a touch of honeycomb. A gorgeous treat even those without a sweet tooth won't be able to deny.
As the bar caters for all meal times you can rest assured that you'll be supplied with a range of delicious teas, coffees, beers, wine, spirits and cocktails. All cocktails are $14 and provide a nice alternative to your standard cosmopolitan or martini.
What is most eye-catching and unique about Jam Jar is that its walls are covered with artwork by local Brisbane artists. You see this only at a minimum when first walking into the bar, but as you follow the artwork along their hallway, you are lead to the courtyard where majority of the art is displayed. A particular section of the bar showcases artwork for up to two months at a time before bringing in works from a new artist.
Open from Wednesday to Sunday, Jam Jar is sure to spark some attention from the public as it establishes itself as an alternative gem among Brisbane's bar scene.
