Review by Alana MartinOur Place is a quirky bar on the main Valley strip where you are sure to call it home sweet home. Our Place is like taking a step into a granny style house party with all the trimmings with an added garden gnome or two.
The décor completely encompasses the name ‘Our Place’ with a white picket fence out the front and even a clothes line and piano inside. The cosy bar has plenty of nooks and crannies whether you want to chill out upstairs on the couches or carve it up on the dance floor downstairs.
Now if you’re keen to relive the music from your favourite 90’s boy band or 80’s pop icon this is definitely the place for you. The music is like taking a step back in time where you are sure to hear one of the pop classics (or disasters) whether it be Backstreet Boys, Cyndi Lauper, Smash Mouth or even Hall and Oates. But be sure to keep hydrated as the continual run of great songs is sure to keep you on the dance floor.
Luckily, the bar is equipped with an array of boutique beers, ciders, wines and spirits. But, for those seeking something a little different their cocktails are sure to make a stir. Now, if you enjoy a nice cuppa you need to try their teapot cocktails. Earl Grey? English Breakfast? All for around $15, you can enjoy tea flavoured cocktails straight from the pot. Maybe a Chai tea is your flavour: filled with peach liqueur, gin and cranberry juice, they are perfect to share between 2.
With no cover charge, Our Place is buzzing with a young crowd where you can chill out at the upstairs bar and perhaps play a game of old school Pac Man. Or if you’re keen to bust a move the dance floor is sure to not disappoint. Our Place is definitely a quirky and cool bar to check out, no doubt you’ll be calling it Your Place in no time.
