Wet Pussys* Why Guys Should Order Girls a Rum and Coke Instead
When I’m at a bar or a nightclub and a guy offers to buy me a drink, nine times out of ten he will buy me some sort of shooter: the “Slippery Nipple”, or the “Wet Pussy”…or if I’m really lucky, the “Screaming Orgasm”. Never mind the embarrassment of having to stand next to a sleazy guy (I had my beer goggles on, okay?), but now I get the added embarrassment of the bartender knowing that I’m going to have a Screaming Orgasm. Why can’t he just order me a nice drink like the Chocolate Cake instead?
The Worlds Best Bartender
Ever wondered who the worlds best bartender is… Probably not, however its this guy… Rodrigo Delpech.
Believe it or not, flaring, also known as theatrical bartending has a pretty big following, with bar tenders around the world aspiring to be recognized as the Legend Of Bartending in 2009
Now don’t let your cynicism get the better of you… this is a real competition, with real contestants and a pretty big following. (Just check out the site http://www.legendsofbartending.com)
Whilst this style of serving drink may not catch on in every bar or nightclub, simply due to the fact nobody in their right mind would be willing to wait that long for a drink (no matter how entertaining it may be), there is without question artistic talent oozing from this guy. Being able to turn something we generally take for granted in bars and nightclubs and turning it into circus/artistic/acting performance is pretty impressive. There is without question a lot of skill and practice that goes into these performances, which should be recognized.
Running since 1999 the Legends of Bartending has showcased the best flarers in the business.
What Is Shochu?
When it comes to Japanese drinks, we all know the traditional “sake”, but there is another strong beverage gaining international fame. While at a bar the other night, I came across an alcohol I’d never heard of before. I headed over to the bar and had a chat to the bartender. Originally from Japan, the tall, thin barman talked at length about shochu. I listened intently, sampled and learnt all about this unknown drink. What a good thing I did. Now I have something to share with you.
Arabic Techno Music
So chances are, the DJ at your favorite bar or nightclub hasn’t spun this track… but nevertheless it is pretty good. Whilst many in the Western world would secumb to their ignorance and assume that listening to techno music (or even going to a bar or nightclub) in many Arabic nations is punishable by death… it isn’t… (well not everywhere at least)
According to the description of this track, it has Turkish and Greek influences… Whatever the case, the lyrics sound like they were written by a 12 year old gypsy but to be fair, all techno music lyrics sound shit so we definitely can’t hold that against them.
Whether you like it or not, chances are if you make a request to the DJ at your local nightclub they will laugh you off the dancefloor, however, it is worth a listen…

10 Facts About Tequila
Many a night in bars and nightclubs all over the globe, people have done “Tequila shots”. A lick of the salt, a sip of the drink and a suck of the lemon, what ever your process, this is one serious beverage. On Saturday July 24, American’s celebrate National Tequila Day. It’s not a formalized national holiday, but who cares! Don’t complain, just enjoy and drink up at the bar. We’re celebrating in our very own way. Here are ten fun facts you should know about tequila.
One: Never buy tequila that you’ve seen advertised over and over again. So many companies spend way too much cash on TV ads and billboards featuring topless girls holding tequila bottles between their boobs that they forget what really matters – the quality.
Two: Check labels for the “100 percent Agave”. Tequila is made from an Agave plant – a tree generally found in the mountains in the Tequila region of Mexico. It’s pretty safe to suggest that if the label doesn’t say that it’s made from this plant, then its not real tequila.
Three: You should already know this one, but just in case you’ve been living under a rock for the past 100 years, there are three simple steps to shotting tequila. Lick the salt, shot the tequila and suck on a slice of lemon.
Four: Historically, salt and lemons weren’t used in the shotting tradition. Previously, sugar was used instead of salt and oranges rather than lemons were used for sucking.
Five: Tequila can be used in cooking. Try your hand at whipping up beef and tequila stew, margarita steaks, tequila fried shrimp or a tequila salsa.
Six: There are five different types of tequila. Blanco [silver], is a clear, unaged tequila that is normally bottled after being distilled. Joven [gold] is tequila which has not been left to rest or mature, but to which colour and flavourings like caramel and sugar syrup have been added. Reposado [aged], also known as vintage tequila gets this name because it is aged in oak barrels for at least a year – giving a smoother taste. The last two types of tequila are the anejo – one is extra aged, followed by the ultra aged. The difference is that these are generally left to rest for three years and the alcohol content must be diluted by bartenders using water when being prepared for consumption.
Seven: The word tequila is an ancient Nahuatl term. The Nahuatl were the original people who lived in the area of Tequila.
Eight: The famous “worm” that is often found at the bottom of the tequila bottle is actually the larva of one of two moths that live on the agave plant. The worm being in the bottle serves as proof the alcohol is genuine.
Nine: The first bottles of tequila were exported out of Mexico and to other parts of the world including America and Europe in 1876 by what is now one of the hugest tequila companies, Jose Cuervo.
Ten: Tequinis are becoming increasingly popular around the world. This is the tequila version of the martini. Tequila replaces the dry gin.
Happy National Tequila Day!

Urine a Serious Problem in Bars and Clubs
Bars and nightclubs are places crawling with bad smells. Whether its vomit or body odour, I think it’s pretty safe to say that the general population finds them discusting. One smell which really knocks me about is the scent of urine when you walk into bathrooms. Thankfully, a new product has hit the market which aims to clean up pee more efficiently.
Urinefree is a cleaning product that is both easy to use and good for the environment. The product contains a bio-enzyme which is harsher than other cleaning products to help remove the odours and stains. Urine is made up of urea, urochrome and uric acid. Normal cleaning products used to scrub most toilet floors; walls and sealing get rid of the water soluble components in urine, but often leave behind the non-soluble uric acid crystals – which retain the smell. Many cleaners try to mask the remaining smell by spraying perfumes, but if the stain is still caked over the tiles, the toilet will still smell bad.
Urinefree works like this. First you use a pocket sized torch over an area and if urine is present, the torch will light up. After treating the surface by following the instructions, you’re able to check the area with the torch again. What makes this product even better is that the particles used to make it up are bio degradable so not only is it friendly on the nose, but on the earth as well.
However, without sounding completely like I’ve been paid to sell Urinefree; it is interesting to note a few things to prevent stinky toilets when you head out. It’s not that hard to imagine how urine gets over the walls and floors of not only the toilet, but other parts of the clubs and bars as well. Beer and other spirits are consumed in truckloads in Australia. This means people are visiting the bathrooms frequently. As people especially men drink more and more, their judgement becomes further impaired and when they head to empty their bladders, their aim can often be effected. Consequently, urine ends up in other places apart from the toilet bowl. Urine filters into other parts of bars and clubs because when we go to the bathrooms to do our business, our shoes and clothes come into contact with the floors and walls. Then we walk back out to the dance floor, taking the smell with us. It’s all about personal care and respecting public property. If you wouldn’t pee on the bathroom floor in your own house, try your best not to do it in bars and nightclubs.

Sydney… More then Just Bars and Nightclubs
OK, Lets face it. Many of us spend way too much time in the bars and nightclubs and we neglect to appreciate the beauty of our amazing city. Sydney and other parts of Australia are bursting with natural goodness. From the beaches to the many mountains and cliffs, we have a wonderful world of outdoor beauty many of us just don’t notice. We’re not the only ones. Everyone does it in their own home town. Its like people who live opposite the beach. They move in and make the most of their good fortune, but after a while, the novelty runs dry and the beach simply becomes something in the distance.
While us Australian’s take our amazing country forgranted, one group of people are embracing it. A recent report shows that Australia is the number one destination Chinese people intend on visiting in the next few years. According to the Visa PATA Travel Intention Survey, more than half of the travellers surveyed from mainland China were intending to head to Australia in the next two years.
Tourism Australia’s Managing Director, Andrew McEvoy said Chinese travellers loved Australia’s beaches, sunshine and natural scenery. “Australia has been at the forefront in destination marketing since becoming the first Western destination to receive approval to host group leisure travellers from China,” said McEvoy. “Since gaining approved destination status [ADS], in 1999, the China travel market has grown exponentially for Australia to become one of our top five sources of international travellers.”
McEvoy said efforts to strengthen marketing campaigns were being increased. “Tourism Australia is launching a new “There’s nothing like Australia”, campaign in China in August,” he said. “Early testing of our campaign shows positive results so far – of those who have viewed the new broadcast ad in Shanghai, 90 percent of people said they were more likely to head to Australia.”
The campaign will include an interactive map of Australia featuring 3,200 stories and images provided by Australian’s which will be translated into Chinese. During the year ending March 2010, Australia received 360,000 tourists from China generating $2.3 billion into our economy.
The Australian Government is investing $30 million into the new marketing strategy in China. Federal Minister for Tourism, Martin Ferguson said in 1999 93,000 Chinese people travelled to Australia and in 2009, this figure increased to more than 366,000. “The Government funding will help strengthen investment beyond the three core regions of Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou into Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces and generating the demand which will drive air capacity and further investment,” said Mr Ferguson. He said our country had beautiful icons and getting Australian citizens to tell their stories of our nation in an on-line marketing campaign helped bring tourists here. “Every day Australian’s have rallied to the cause and demonstrated their support for this campaign by adding almost 30,000 stories and images to help promote our well-known icons to the world as well as uncovering our hidden gems,” he said. “Businesses have indicated their support and willingness to continue with the campaign so I ask all others to do the same.”
So people, enjoy drinking and dancing up a storm on the dance floors in bars and clubs throughout Australia. Be sure you don’t forget to stop and take a walk on our beautiful beaches, smell our wonderful plants and snap amazing pictures of our cute animals. Remember that if we don’t, others will do it for us.
